Man Man Man!

I understand so many of us have put off this book due to the unrestrained turmoil it will put you through. You all don’t understand how grateful I am to have been able to go on this journey with these characters.

Living through Caprices eyes in the beginning of this story was tragic. Caprice is only 8 years old when she loses her mother and has to go live with her grandmother and uncle in Florida. Her life takes a turn for the worse because her predatory uncle takes away everything about being a child from her.

Shaun her next door neighbor is the only glue she has to keeping it together in her new and horrible world. During this story her and Shaun become best friends and you get to watch how their friendship and love flourishes overtime. I thoroughly enjoyed the way the author presented this book in 3 separate acts of age and how things transpire through each stage of life for Caprice. You will see her at ages 8, 16, and 28.

Shaun meeting the girl next-door and becoming protective over her all to quickly will have consequences that will always be worth it to him when it comes down to Caprice! He never forgets to let her know how special she is to him.

In the beginning, I was torn, angry, depressed, and optimistic.

By the end, I was relieved, ecstatic, proud, and thankful. The things Caprice had to go through were pure torture to endure but I’m so pleased she had Shaun to help her be as comfortable as she possibly could in the uncomfortable.

I don’t know how I am supposed to move on after this one 🥲

If you are still avoiding reading this book I urge you… just take the plunge and start this journey to be uncomfortable with her so that you can experience the peace and completeness you will feel afterward!
